Our competitors often say they have spent a great deal of money developing their medical billing program, but many of them are not even the owners of the software they give you. Just ask any competitor if they are the actual software programmers and developers -- or if they just are reselling another company’s software.

If you are an independent entrepreneur, a supposed network of other billers is not going to help you land accounts. They’re in business for themselves. Training and Support

Most of our Competitors will say their training and support are unparalleled in the industry. But the fact is, they are only imitating ClaimTek, which has consistently been the pioneer in educating entrepreneurs to start medical billing businesses. Whatever we do, our competitors imitate, and then claim they are the best. We appreciate the compliment, but we set the standards and we want you to know that.

Some competitors tout in particular that they have live training, but frankly, for start up businesses, receiving a few days of live training is wasteful and misleading for several reasons: 1) You are stuck in a room learning at someone else’s pace. 2) You are paying for airfare and hotel expense for little good reason. 3) You are led to believe you can learn all about medical software, insurance billing, operations and marketing in a few days, which means that by the time you leave, your head is spinning. You sign a piece of paper agreeing that you were happily trained, hence dropping major liabilities for the company that trained you. 4) You are given large doses of hyped up motivational talk, which when you are back in grind of starting a business serves little practical purpose. If you are not self-motivated, the effects of a couple of days of motivational talk will be short-lived. Additionally, there is abundance of motivational CDs and tapes on the market. When you put all this together, it makes little sense to think that 4 days of live training is going to make you successful.

Live training can work fine for specific topics, that are complex. But for a startup business, it is meant to make you feel good about buying a sub-par program.

Sales Support

Some competitors mislead you by offering a program whereby they say they will find a sales person to represent you to doctors and get business for you. You then pay this person a commission and monthly residual.

But, frankly, think about the logic of this promise. First, it's not a secret marketing technique to try to employ some drug reps to promote your services for a price. If you are starting on a budget though it may not be profitable for you to pay someone else thousands of dollars in commissions and perhaps a base salary to find your clients. Generating income from a new client may take 2-3 months from the time you start billing for them. Also, what guarantees do you have that this person would really find suitable clients or represent your company image the way you want? What if they find a client that cancels with you a couple of months later? And finally, you may have just created a competitor with better experience in sales. Why wouldn’t this person just keep the business for themselves after being trained?  This makes little sense, because this promise of sales support is just intended to make you think you can easily get into the business. You can always discover or use such techniques with any program from any company. If any company makes promises that such service won't cost you much, or they're confident that they will find sales people for you for a few hundred dollars, ask them to put the exact cost in writing as addendum to their contract.

Another competitor we hear about promises you a guaranteed doctor client for about $4K. We learned through some people that fell for this that this company refers you to another company after you pay. The new company signs a doctor for you, but the contract remains between them and the doctor with you acting only as a claims processor operating under a severe list of terms and conditions. You start processing some claims for their doctor but when you make a mistake or two (and this will happen) you end up losing the account due to credibility issues. These companies then "recycle" this doctor client to a new victim.

All they really do here is refer you to appointment setting companies in your area.  This is no rocket science. They do not actually do the marketing and set the appointments for you. They simply point you in a different direction and you pay for it.
